Raleigh District D, I'm Rob Baumgart. My history with Raleigh starts with studying at NCSU. That was the foundation for running a successful small business here for nearly 20 years, renovating and managing multiple properties, raising two children, and making most of my favorite memories of life, all in Raleigh's District D since 1999. I would like to represent this District in our growing city and pay back my gratitude with my time and creative approach to life as your next City Council Member. My goal is to represent the people of this District and help shepherd Raleigh into its next, bigger chapter with a thoughtful approach from the perspective of a father, small business owner, investor, neighbor, and active member of our community. I believe our growth will continue and should be encouraged, responsibly. As a Council Member I would Partner with those who can help, listen to those who have Plans, and Promote ideas and organizations that can keep our city healthy and vibrant, even as we cross the half million citizen mark...and beyond!
I spent most of last six months on my most recent project cleaning up a 1960's warehouse along South Saunders St. My Plan was to make a smart long term investment in an area of town earmarked for growth from the federal level in an Opportunity Zone, and sitting along a corridor of the BRT System, and a stone's throw from the envisioned Downtown Raleigh South. While cleaning it out, I found a small 60's residential door that had been bricked up years ago. I told my boys we could make it a little community door offering dry goods, socks, and other necessities for the immediate local homeless population. During the renovations, I met Pastor Chris of Ship Community Outreach and was impressed with his desire for our community. I saw a chance to Partner and now have leased the entire 12,000 sq ft building dedicated to helping individuals in need meet their critical needs of food, clothing, fellowship, direction, and hope led by a man whose vision is to Promote our most vulnerable citizens.
As you can see, I am all about Partnership, Planning, and Promotion!
As your next city council member, Rob will serve the interests of all citizens of Raleigh. He will govern by getting you involved. One way we can do that is to have a bit of fun together. We have put interactive campaign signs up around the city. Find one, take a picture with the sign, and share it using #RobRaleigh.
